Heating System Water Testing and Dosing
Your central heating system relies on the uninterrupted flow of hot water around its pipes, pumps, heat exchangers and radiators. Any restrictions to the flow can result in the system being less efficient and less effective at doing its job – heating your home or business. And as restrictions tend to build over time, they can even lead to blockages and breakdowns. Able Plumbing Solutions’ testing and dosing aims to keep everything running properly.
What is water dosing and why is it important?
Water dosing is adding chemicals to the water system to keep it as pure as possible. Nobody’s going to be drinking this water, so it’s not a health or hygiene issue. But because it’s a closed loop, contaminants have a habit of getting worse over time, and it can lead to corrosion, bacterial build-ups, scale, sludge and blockages. Some simple testing by our experts can assess the state of the water, so we can decide whether it needs treatment.

Our process
First, we’ll assess the whole system to ensure we’re taking samples that cover all components. There are often blind spots and branches that go unnoticed by a less thorough test, and that can prove to be a weakness over time.
Next, we’ll take samples from various points in the system, and those samples will undergo laboratory tests for pH as well as contaminants. This can give us a precise snapshot of the system. Then, we can decide if dosing is necessary – it isn’t always – and which specific treatments are required. Finally, we add the relevant chemicals to the system and seal it up.
Keep your heating system efficient and reliable
Whether your heating system is in a domestic or commercial setting, having the water tested will help you to check for contaminants that could affect its performance and longevity. If anything is found, it can usually be solved relatively simply by adding chemicals to kill bacteria, restore healthy pH levels and reduce sludge and limescale.
