Testimonial

Able refitted our small en-suite and installed a wet room. From first contact, to the final finishing the Able team were completely professional, punctual, and worked to a high standard. Cleaned up each day and removed the debris so not need for a skip. Any unexpected issues related to the job - inevitable when retro fitting in a 20 year old house - were sorted.
Chris was the main man for us and we were very impressed with his excellent standard of work - always discussing options with us and if necessary recommending from his experience.
Would use them again and recommend completely.
Excellent experience with Able. Easy booking and fairly immediate availability for the issue.
The lads were polite and fixed the job quickly. They had all the parts already on their van so
no unnecessary delays. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

Tap replacement needed and Able Plumbing have turned the job around really quickly!
Clean job, called ahead of appointment and done asap
5 stars!
Another great service by Able Plumbing! This is the third time I have used them and always find them helpful, friendly and professional! Very good quality work, they always make sure to leave everything tidy and clean and make me feel at ease also, many thanks to Jamie for helping me when I had many questions and for fitting me in quickly! Love my new bath, shower door and heated towel rail!
I would just like to say how pleased I am with the quality of the work for my full bathroom refit. Aaron was extremely pleasant to have working in my house. He was clean, respectful, professional, always arrived on time and did a great job and I am extremely happy with the end result. I have used Able plumbing for over 10 years and this is the reason I keep going back.
After reading online reviews, I called Able Plumbing to find out about a Gas Boiler Service. The person I spoke to was very friendly and polite, gave me all the information I was asking for without being pushy to arrange services. It was quick and easy to book an engineer to visit my property. Matt arrived on time, as stated when I called to book the appointment. He was very respectful of my property, even took his shoes off when he first came in. He carried out the boiler the service in the loft and was happy to answer and explain any questions I had for him. Electronic invoice came via email a few days later and the whole process was seamless from start to finish. I would definitely use Matt and Able Plumbing again.
Able Plumbing Solutions carried out a boiler service on behalf on my landlord, so I'm not party to the value provided. But I am sure it would have matched the other aspects of their service, including communications and timeliness which were both faultless. But above all, it was very clear to me that the technical level of the service was simply outstanding: beyond anything I've experienced previously in fact. Their engineer was meticulous, thorough, and clearly very expert. He was also respectful, pleasant and left everything in good order. I'm leaving this review because I think Able Plumbing solutions deserve recognition for doing a really outstanding job

Frequently asked questions

What should I look for when choosing an engineer for a gas boiler in Milton Keynes?

The number one consideration is that they should be Gas Safe registered. They should show their accreditation on their website, but you can double check by looking them up on the Gas Safe Register itself.

After that, it comes down to normal commercial considerations, such as how much they charge and what warranties they offer. If your needs are urgent, you’ll need to know how quickly they can come out and what they’ll charge for such emergency visits.

What accreditations exist for oil-fired boilers?

The equivalent body to the Gas Safe Register for oil-fired boilers is OFTEC, which stands for the Oil Firing Technical Association. If your boiler is off the grid and you have your oil delivered, this is the accreditation you should be looking for.

Oil-fired boilers tend to be in rural locations, where the cost of connecting to the mains gas is prohibitively expensive.

Do plumbers specialise in certain brands of boiler?

Although boilers do pretty much the same job whoever makes them, there’s certainly an advantage to knowing particular brands and models inside out.

The large manufacturers offer training and accreditation of their own, which plumbers can use to enhance their expertise. So if you’re aiming to install a specific model, or want to make sure the plumber understands your boiler, look for professional accreditations on their website – or just ask.

How can I find out if a plumber is competent and trustworthy?

The easiest way is to look for independent reviews online. Most companies will put positive testimonials on their websites, but for a rounder picture look for a larger pool of opinions on services like Trustpilot or Google Reviews

The plumber has no control over what people say there, so look for ones with overwhelmingly positive reviews. If you see a negative review, see if the company has replied with an explanation, as that can sometimes show that the original complaint was not justified or was mistaken (and sometimes it’s just malicious).

And it doesn’t matter if you’re looking to hire a plumber local to Milton Keynes specifically or a national company providing plumbing contractors, it’s imperative that you do the research beforehand.

How do you find out how much plumbing work will cost?

Reputable companies should be open and transparent about their costs. Although some jobs will require an investigation before a quote is made, others are routine, such as safety checks and services. These costs should ideally be easily findable on a Pricing page, along with hourly rates and out-of-hours call-out fees.

How often should a gas boiler be serviced?

The vast majority of boiler manufacturers say that a boiler should be serviced once every 12 months, with the first check-up taking place a year after installation. In fact, you’ll probably find that your warranty will only be valid if you do have this check performed once a year.

The check makes sure everything is safe, especially things like carbon monoxide emissions and proper venting. It also checks that gas and water are flowing well, that all switches, valves, sensors and pumps are working properly, and that your expansion vessel (if you have one) is at the correct pressure. It all adds up to a safe and efficient boiler.
